17-year-old boy charged with raping a woman in her 50s in a Kingston church yard.

The Metropolitan Police said the incident took place in Market Place and they received a call on Saturday morning.

The defendant has been charged with one count of rape, one count of theft, one count of possession of a Class B drug and two counts of fraud.

The boy was charged on Thursday and is expected to appear in Stratford Magistrates’ Court the same day.

It is thought that the churchyard could be linked to All Saints Church – a Norman structure dating back to 1120 and the only Grade I listed building in Kingston.

Neither the accused boy nor the alleged victim can be named for legal reasons.
