An 18-year-old man was charged with assault in central Christchurch on Friday night.
Police attended the Saint Asaph St incident around 9:15 pm and took one person into custody, a police spokesman said.
The spokesperson said the man was charged with assault with intent to injure on Saturday. The victim suffered minor injuries and required hospital treatment.

Hato Hone St John arrived at the scene before 9 p.m. on Friday to treat the victim and transport him to hospital, a spokesman said.
The attacker is due to appear before Christchurch District Court on Thursday, April 6.
