Nod is an Amazon-exclusive sub-brand of Tuft & Needle. We haven’t tested this particular model, although our reviewers are fans of Tuft & Needle. This hybrid has 2 inches of soft foam on the top, with an inch of firmer foam to reduce bounce, a layer of 6-inch pocket coils, a layer of spring coils, and an inch of base foam. Hybrids like these are our favorite mattresses, as they offer the benefits of both foam and traditional innerspring.
While we haven’t tested the Element, we’ve tested Casper mattresses and are big fans of the brand. Our favorite mattresses tend to be coil spring hybrids and foam, but this full foam model consists of three layers of foam for comfort and support.
You have to put that mattress on something. Box springs provide support for the mattress and raise it to a more typical height, although you still need a frame to get it off the floor. This Casper box spring is wrapped in a dark chambray cloth for a stylish look that will match a wide range of bedroom decor.

WIRED review editor Julian Chokkattu has been sleeping on this mattress for about two months. He says the Tencel cover adds a pillow-like softness to the top, but the entire bed feels relatively firm. Edge support is pretty good, and it seems to provide good support for stomach, back and side sleepers. These mattresses are handmade to order in the USA.
We didn’t ask cats or dogs if this PetFusion bed eased their worries about the state of the world, but it nestles puffy polyester plush over a sturdy memory foam base for comfort. Because it is quite small, it is intended for pets weighing 25 pounds or less. Reviewer Medea Giordano recommended it in our guide to stress-relieving gifts during the holiday season, saying that PetFusion products are good at withstanding the wear and tear that animals put them through.
Unlike pet beds that have a 90-degree wall (like a couch arm), this Furhaven bed slopes gently on both ends so your little friend doesn’t have to stretch their neck to get a good night’s sleep. In our experience, Furhaven beds are well made, with a firm block of memory foam at the core rather than a bunch of clipped up pieces of foam. This size is suitable for dogs weighing up to 75 pounds.

The Avocado Latex Mattress is 11 inches thick and made from organic latex, organic wool, and organic cotton. It is also non-toxic. It contains no polyurethane, flame retardants, memory foam or chemical adhesives, according to the company. It’s on the firmer side, although you can add a pillow top if you like a softer feel.

Pinzon, one of Amazon’s house brands for bedding, is a label that exceeds its weight in terms of quality for the money. We have been using these for years. The sheets are crisp, smooth and cool to the touch on those hot summer evenings.
Chase your dreams on the traditional puffy, quilted side of this pillow or flip it over to rest your head on the firmer cooling gel side. The gel insert is removable, so you can throw the rest of the pillow in the washing machine, unlike many gel pillows that have to be washed by hand. We’re big fans of Leesa mattresses here on the WIRED review team, and their pillows are made to a similar level of quality.
As a side sleeper, I tend to prefer foam pillows as they support my neck so I don’t wake up with aches and pains in the morning. This pillow is made for side, back and stomach sleepers, so feel free to plop around and change positions all night long.
Blankets aren’t just for winter. Whether you’re compensating for too cold air conditioning or just want something soft to cuddle under during a movie night, a Sherpa blanket has deep-pile fibers that feel softer and more luxurious than a regular blanket. While we haven’t tested this blanket, over 16,000 reviewers on Amazon give it an overall 4.7 stars out of 5.
Weighted blankets stimulate a calming response that can help you fall asleep. If you’re having a hard time catching Z’s at night or are looking for some extra comfort, a weighted blanket may be just what you need. Several weights are available, from 12 to 20 pounds. As with the Amazon Basic Sherpa Blanket, we haven’t tested it (yet), but it’s an inexpensive option in a space where the competition often retails for over $100.
If memory foam is too warm for you to sleep, check out these fluffy polyester microfiber filled pillows. The covers are 100 percent cotton in a percale weave, which gives a fresher, cooler feel than typical cotton covers. Our Casper experience is limited to mattresses and sunrise alarmsbut in our experience Casper products are thoughtfully designed and well made.
Sometimes all an older mattress needs is a new topper to bring back that plush, plush feel of when it was new. Gel tends to benefit those who sleep warmly. The gel construction not only provides support for the back, but also feels cooler than memory foam. We slept on it many nights.

Measuring the health of your sleep habits is all the rage. Slip this sleep tracking pad under your mattress to record your heart rate, sleep cycles, breathing disorders and more to create a sleep diary you can use to diagnose your sleep quality. It works with Amazon Alexa and pairs via an Android or iPhone app, so you can see your results as soon as you wake up in the morning. WIRED contributor Simon Hill has used this as a baseline to compare with other sleep products he has tested.
The Homelabs have the best overall pick in my guide to the Best sunrise alarms not because it’s the fanciest or most revolutionary alarm. It was (and remains) my favorite for its impressive build quality and a feature list that matches competitors several times the price. It’s just as effective at setting a calming “sunset” mode at bedtime as it is at gently waking me up in the “sunrise” mode in the morning.
It’s not exactly the same as a dedicated sunrise alarm, but a smart light kit with some easy-to-set custom settings can be a reliable way to push you into bed at night or out of bed in the morning if you already have lights that have a accept regular sized light bulb. Hue product names can be a bit confusing. “Atmosphere” means you can set not only the color of the light, but also the “temperature” of the white light. That means making it more yellow (warmer) or more blue (cooler). What the Casper Glow Light lacks in a feature list, it makes up for with an intuitive design. Simply turning or flipping the Glow Light operates a simple yet reliable set of functions that make this sunrise/sunset alarm a solid performance. More functionalities are available in the app.
Complete and oppressive silence can be just as bad as loud neighbors and street noise when you try to drift away. A white noise machine provides a soothing background whoosh to help you fall asleep. There are two speeds to change the volume and tone of the sound. This is one of our favorite white noise machinesthanks in part to an internal fan that creates an authentic wind noise rather than simply playing a sound file.
