A nine-year-old girl has died after being hit by a bus. A five-year-old boy was injured. The driver has been arrested.
Ada Bicakci lived with her family in the same area as the incident, in Bexleyheath in south-east London, and attended a local primary school.
She also attended a Turkish school in South East London. She was a Turkish-British national.
She was an enthusiastic gymnast and swimmer.
Ada's family has given permission to share two photos of her, including one showing her having her hair cut to donate.
Her family has said that Ada's organs were donated after her death to help six other children. She will have a multi-faith funeral.
Her family is receiving support from specialist officers and have requested that their privacy be respected.
The police investigation into the collision is still ongoing and police would like to hear from witnesses.
On Saturday 3 August at 09:05am, police received a report of a collision between a bus and two children on Watling Street, near the junction with Halcot Avenue.
Ada was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service with life-threatening injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she sadly passed away on the afternoon of Monday 5th August.
A five-year-old boy was also taken to hospital as a precaution. They were with a family member at the time of the collision.
The male driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He has been bailed until a date in early November pending further enquiries.
Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the investigation
