A 29-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with a brutal triple murder in Queens, according to police.
Travis Blake was arrested in Bar Harbor, Maine, nearly a week after three decomposing bodies were found tied up in a house.
The charges against Blake, who was arrested by members of the Regional Fugitive Task Force, are still pending as he is extradited to New York, NBC New York reports.
The three dead were two women – 22-year-old Vashawnna Malcolm and 55-year-old Karlene Barnett – and a man, 36-year-old Dervon Brightly.
Barnett was Blake’s girlfriend, Brightly was Barnett’s son, and Malcolm was Barnett’s goddaughter, according to ABC7 New York.
All three bodies were found on June 24 at their home on 155th Street in Queens.
Brightly’s older sister Natasha told ABC7, “We don’t know when they were killed.
“They were in the house days before they were discovered.”
Malcolm was found dead on a bed with obvious signs of trauma and puncture wounds to her chest in a room on the second floor of the house.
Authorities said the bodies of Barnett and Brightly were discovered in the basement of the South Jamaica home.
Barnett was found with multiple stab wounds and Brightly had head trauma.
Police found the bodies at the scene after a 911 call.
The motive for the murders is currently unknown and no court date has been set.
Blake’s arrest comes after police say he fled the triple homicide home and headed to Maine.
According to the Daily Mail, he was seen on a surveillance video of a house.
Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
