A tourist suffered a serious head injury after jumping off the balcony of a hotel in Santa Ponsa, a party resort in Mallorca.

The 20-year-old Irish was rushed to Son Espases Hospital in the island’s capital after falling from the third floor of the 4-star TRH Jardin del Mar Beach Hotel and then stabilizing on-site.

The alarm rang shortly after 4.30 this morning.

Emergency responders found an injured tourist behind the hotel in the gap between the hotel building and a small wall.

According to one local report, he told emergency personnel that he had fallen while being chased, arousing unconfirmed speculation that he might have been under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time. The Civil Guard is under investigation.

A military spokesman confirmed: “We are investigating a 20-year-old tourist plunging from the balcony on the third floor of a hotel in Santa Ponsa.

“He was taken to Son Espases Hospital in Palma.”

Police were unable to provide official information about the nationality of the vacationer earlier this morning, but appropriate sources confirmed that he was Irish.

Rescuers stabilized him on the scene for about 25 minutes before taking him to the hospital by ambulance.

His worried friend is said to have chased immediately behind him in a taxi.

“Serious” after a 50-year-old Irish tourist fell from an apartment on the second floor of Santa Ponsa, a popular Irish vacationer resort, about a 15-minute drive from Magalph on May 3. I was taken to the hospital in the state.
