Britain’s Katie Boulter kicks off the action at SW19 this morning as she tries to build on that stellar career win over runner-up Karolina Pliskova last year, and joins compatriot Heather Watson in the last-16 from her home Grand Slam.
Boulter has never reached the third round of a major tournament before but is confident as she takes on Harmony Tan at Court No2, with Liam Broady looking to continue his impressive streak and make it another strong day for the British when he goes into battle. Alex de Minaur. Tan is likely to be a formidable test for Boulter, having knocked out Serena Williams in a first-round epic before beating 32nd-seeded Sara Sorribes Tormo.

Boulter draws inspiration from unlikely triumphs
Katie Boulter is hoping to follow in the footsteps of both Emma Raducanu and Leicester City, after knocking out Wimbledon second Karolina Pliskova in three sets last year. Matt Majendie.
A repeat of the match between the pair in Eastbourne ended in another win for the world No. 118 as she defeated the former World No. 1 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
Boulter said Raducanu’s unlikely win at the US Open and the equally implausible win of the Foxes’ Premier League title in 2016 led her to believe she could make her own sporting surprise.
Of Raducanu’s fairytale win in New York, Boulter said, “What she did was astonishing. I think everyone knows how incredible what she did was. It doesn’t come every day. She came out, surprised everyone and played tennis fearlessly. That’s what’s so impressive.”

Tan was impressive to back her win over Williams with a comfortable second round win over Sara Sorribes Tormo. Those are her first ever wins in the main draw at Wimbledon.
But Boulter herself is confident after a really strong grass pitch season and kept her nerve at Center Court to get past Pliskova.
With the audience of Court 2 very much on her side, Boulter is well placed to extend her brilliant series.
