Attention, all those who like their property porn with a little spice.

Here’s a dream home that’s a little different from all your usual Victorian terraces or luxury penthouses.

In Benfleet, Essex, stands a 90-foot high water tower, built in 1903.

This tower was once used for water storage.

Then, in 1957, it was decommissioned and since then it has been converted into a four-bedroom house spread over six floors.

And it’s now on the market for £2.1 million.

It has a distinctive blue staircase from its working days – although an elevator is available to assist with the 90-foot climb.

A four bedroom apartment – spread over the fourth, fifth and sixth floors – offers panoramic views reaching as far as Tower Bridge and Southend Pier.

Entering the fourth floor you enter the kitchen and dining room with oak cabinets and appliances, plus the living area.

Up a spiral staircase is the master bedroom suite, complete with a dressing room, plus a second bedroom and family bathroom.

Go back to the sixth floor and you’ll find the third bedroom, plus another room that can be used as a fourth bed or a home office.

These all have beautiful views over the countryside and below the apartment is an office space that can be rented out by the new owner, located on the ground, first and second floor.

Broker Bradleys Countrywide, which is marketing the tower, predicts the leased office space could earn £162,000 each year.

Jay Wainwright, manager at Bradleys Countrywide, said: “We have had many years of dealings with the Benfleet Water Tower and we are delighted that the sellers have chosen Bradleys Countrywide as their agents to bring this unique property to the market.

‘This is one of the most well known and recognized buildings in the Castle Point area and offers a buyer the chance to own a unique and prestigious building with such a history.

‘The property generates substantial rental income from office tenants on the ground, first and second floors and Global Blu-chip communication companies via the roof.

“The penthouse apartment feels surprisingly spacious and the view extends as far as Tower Bridge.

‘Perhaps the elevator is the best asset to the 90-meter-high building.’
