Stuart Broad admits worst in Test Cricket

It was an over that will likely haunt Stuart Broad for the rest of his career and beyond. Minutes after taking his 550th Test wicket (only James Anderson and Glenn McGrath have taken more among seam bowlers), Broad earned himself the infamy of bowling, officially the worst in Test match history.

While three bowlers, including Anderson, previously topped the list with 28 in one over, Broad delivered a massive 35 runs in an eight-ball against India’s number 10 batsman Jasprit Bumrah.

Incredibly, it means Broad now holds the same unwelcome record in two of the game’s three international forms, after being hit six sixes by Yuvraj Singh in a record 36 run over at the 2007 World T20. Only the ODI record, which also stands at 36 runs, eludes him now.

Bumrah’s personal score of 29 not only broke the old record in itself, but Broad gave up six more runs, adding to his embarrassment by letting him throw two extra balls. Here’s Telegraph Sport analyzing the over from hell:
