Loose Ladies Judi Love was overwhelmed with emotion after opening up about her mother’s death.
The Strictly Come Dancing icon, 42, lost her mother to dementia, which causes memory impairment, in 2009 and has been very open about her past experience caring for her mother before her death.
During a special segment entitled ‘Life before Loose’ she reflected on the highs and lows she grew up with during the Wednesday edition of the daytime program.
After presenters Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Gloria Hunniford played the montage of Judi’s stellar career, she burst into tears.
“It’s overwhelming, it’s tears of joy,” she said.
The star later discussed her mother’s dementia and recalled the moment that sparked her career as a comedian.
‘She passed in a beautiful way. We call it traveling – towards death,” she said.
“I did an impersonation of my aunt, and that’s what we call travelling, my mother is at the point where she travels.
“So her eyes were closed and she’s taking a deep breath, and that’s what usually happens, your hearing is the last thing that goes away.
“I was pregnant as you would call it, and she laughed, and everyone said ‘oh my god’.”
She continued, “What else could be the best, and if I can do that, I can do comedy.”
“That was the boost.”
The TV personality later explained how she used comedy as a form of escape.
“I was a chubby girl and for me it was because of trauma,” she said.
“When I was in school, being popular made everyone laugh, facial expressions and just to have that vibe and that got me through. Comedy was a way for me to navigate through the emotions I was feeling.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at midday on ITV.
