RAPHINHA will reportedly receive a massive salary increase if his proposed move to Barcelona goes through.
The Spanish giants stole a march against Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the Leeds wing.
And the Brazilian will apparently receive a lucrative contract worth £ 5.2 million a year should the deal go through.
It turns out to be £ 100,000 a week, a whopping £ 40,000 increase on the wing’s current weekly wages.
It looked as if Chelsea had moved into the pole earlier this week to sign Raphinha after they submitted a bid north of £ 55m for his services.
But a late battle from Barcelona could possibly hamper the West Londoners’ pursuit of the player.
The Catalans apparently agreed to meet Leeds’ asking price for the 25-year-old after his agent – for Barca midfielder Deco – met with club heads earlier this week.
Raphinha played a key role last season in securing Leeds’ Premier League safety, scoring 11 goals in 35 games.
Speculation about his future was widespread before the end of the campaign, although Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is adamant that it did not affect his form.
When asked if Raphinha’s was possibly distracted, the American said last month: “Not at all.
“He is 100 percent invested.
