The Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand for iPad offers a more versatile option thanks to its two-hinged design, but while it improves usability in some ways, it takes away in others.

We love Lululook’s magnetic iPad stands, but one thing was missing until now: hinges. The original models could pivot or adjust the angle, but were permanently fixed at one height.

Lululook has since added a hinge in the base of the stand, so the iPad can rest at multiple heights and angles and still be turned. This increases the usability of the stand with different sizes, adding to an already great experience.

Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand Design

Lululook offers its foldable magnetic stand for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air. The maximum height is almost identical to the original stand, but the neck is thinner and has no opening for cord management.

The kickstand is slightly more minimalist thanks to the thinner neck, although the Lululook logo is prominent on the foot. Magnets align with the iPad magnets to securely attach the device to the stand.

The hinges are rigid and do not move during use

The user can adjust the top hinge without much effort. With the iPad attached, there is enough weight to increase the turning force.

The bottom hinge is another matter, as it cannot be easily adjusted with one or even two hands. We found ourselves picking up the kickstand to gain leverage to adjust the angle of the bottom hinge.

We’ve noticed that the iPad can detach from the magnet’s grip if you try to apply too much force to adjust the angle. However, the iPad sits firmly on the stand when using the Apple Pencil, especially in a lower easel-like orientation.

The ability to fold the stand small is another improvement over the original design. With the iPad removed, the stand folds into a compact piece that can be easily slipped into a backpack.

Using Lululook’s Foldable Magnetic Stand

There are pros and cons to any stand that is dynamically adjustable. Non-folding stands, for example, are not adjustable, so all you can do is place and rotate the iPad, although this is obviously a quick process.

Lululook’s Folding Magnetic Stand needs more customization to get started, especially if it was previously folded for storage. Setting up the stand may take a while and some patience if you set the correct angles on each hinge and make sure it doesn’t tip over.

Use the iPad in portrait or landscape format, raised or lowered at different angles

Since it’s a challenge to adjust the bottom hinge without picking up the stand, it can be a bit of a gamble to get all the angles right before putting the stand back down. If the neck is too far forward, it will tilt.

A bigger or heavier foot could have solved this, but that would have traded off weight and portability. We believe Lululook has struck a good balance here, but it’s not perfect.

We love that the stand is very versatile and can work at different angles.

The stiffness of the hinges is a plus once everything is set up. There is practically no danger of the iPad moving, even while drawing.

Should You Buy the Lululook Folding Magnetic Stand?

The Lululook Folding Magnetic Stand is an excellent option if you’re looking for a rigid yet manoeuvrable stand that can be taken anywhere. We like the versatility of the stand, despite the drawbacks of the rigid hinges, and it looks great too.

Lululook's Folding Magnetic Stand improves upon the old design in almost every way

Lululook’s Foldable Magnetic Stand improves upon the old design in almost every way

We’ve found ourselves leaving the iPad on its stand as we move around our house, adjusting the angles depending on where it’s being used. Its light weight and adjustability make it a good option for those looking for a single iPad stand to master them all.

  • multiple usage angles
  • Foldable for storage
  • Rigid hinges mean no wobble or float
  • But stiff hinges also mean hard to adjust
  • Logo on the foot
  • Foot can be heavier for better balance
