According to a statement from the NYPD, Johnson was fatally shot at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday along Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street on the Upper East Side. She was taken by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Metropolitan where she was later pronounced dead.

According to NYPD commissioner Keechant Sewell, a preliminary investigation revealed that Johnson was walking her 3-month-old baby when an unauthorized person approached her and shot her in the head at close range. Keechant Sewell announced the arrest of Elm Park’s friend in a tweet Friday night. The commissioner wrote that Isaac Argro has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal weapons possession in connection with the tragic shooting of Azsia Johnson on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Reports suggest the 20-year-old victim emailed her relatives about her plans to meet her baby’s father Wednesday night. It was added that Elm wanted to talk some things out. On Wednesday around 8:20 p.m. on Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street on the Upper East Side, Johnson was fatally shot. Organizer Sharon Bell, who identifies herself as Johnson’s cousin, said she and her family are devastated to hear the news of her passing. The message states that Elm Park is survived by two adorable children. While her oldest child is 1 year old, her youngest child is 3 months old.
