A former girlfriend of singer R. Kelly who accused him of physically and mentally abusing her during their two-year relationship says the disgraced musician will be held accountable for his actions.
Hip-hop DJ Kitti Jones made the allegations in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, where she accused the R&B star of controlling every aspect of their lives when they were together.
Kelly vehemently denied the allegations, but he was sentenced this week to 30 years in prison after being convicted of sex trafficking.

After a six-week trial in Brooklyn, Kelly, 55, was found guilty of all nine charges against him, including: multiple counts of extortionwith the charges of bribery and forced labor, by a jury last September.
Kelly – who denied all charges – was also found to be in violation of an anti-sex trafficking law known as the Mann Act.
Kitti says there are only two ways he can fix himself, by taking responsibility and getting serious therapy.
‘R. Kelly must accept the evil he has done to his victims and surrender his life to God,” she told TMZ, adding that he and he must take advantage of the mental health treatment he will be receiving upon his release from prison.
Kitti, who appeared in both Surviving R. Kelly documentaries and made a victim statement for Kelly at his sentencing, added that she’s glad Kelly is off the streets so he can no longer hurt women.
†[His conviction] just gives me and some other victims a lot of closure. I can’t speak for everyone… but I’m just glad he’s off the streets and he can’t affect other lives.”
The disgraced musician was sentenced to three decades in prison by a US federal court in New York for concocting a plan to sexually exploit aspiring young singers and underage children.
Kelly seemed unresponsive when the verdict was handed down, with Judge Ann Donnelly saying during sentencing that he had used his “minions” to “entice young fans into your lane.”
She added that he had taught his victims “that love is slavery and violence.”
