Dan and Matt gained notoriety in the hit Channel 4 program Married at First Sight after they became the first gay couple to participate.

The couple have now joined forces with Prostate Cancer UK in an effort to raise awareness of the impact of the disease on the LGBTQ community.

Matthew, who worked in the charity sector before becoming a reality star, said the cause resonated with him since his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. Fortunately for Matthew and his family, the cancer was detected early and successfully treated.

He said: “My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago, so the work that Prostate Cancer UK does in terms of awareness and support is very important to me.

“My father was happy that his cancer was caught so early, but there are still thousands of people out there – especially in the LGBT + community – who do not know that they are in danger.

“That’s why I’m proud to be working with Prostate Cancer UK at PRIDE to help spread the word and make sure people know where to go for support and advice.”

In March, the couple walked 11,000 steps every day for Prostate Cancer UK – each step represents one of the 11,000 men who die each year from prostate cancer.

Daniel added: “Prostate cancer is a cause that is very close to both of our hearts. I am excited to join Matt and other Prostate Cancer UK supporters at London PRIDE this weekend to celebrate and show our support for the LGBT + community, as well as to raise a much-needed awareness of this disease. ”

Sophie Smith, Senior Specialist Nurse at Prostate Cancer UK, says: “Prostate Cancer UK is here for everyone with a prostate. We know that members of the LGBT + community may have different concerns or questions about prostate cancer and its treatment, and it can sometimes be more difficult for them to access the support and information they need.

“We are therefore delighted that Matthew and Daniel will be joining us at London Pride to help raise awareness of the disease and all of our support services available to the LGBT + community.”
