Police are investigating a serious collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Matapouri, Northland, Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services respond to a crash on Matapouri Road near the intersection of Kaiatea Road, northeast of Central Wangarei.
According to a police spokesperson, the crash was reported to police after 12:30 pm, with the first signs indicating that there were injuries.
A serious police crash unit witnessed and investigated the scene.
Roads are expected to be closed for some time and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
A St. John Ambulance spokesman said one patient had been treated for minor injuries in the field.
The Northland rescue helicopter did not participate in the crash.
Matapouli Road is also known as the Twin Coast Discovery Highway. Another route is available via Ngunguru.
