You’ve experienced connectivity issues with the Pixel 6 series

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are probably the most competitive Pixel flagships released by the search giant to date. The phones offer internal Tensor chipsets, large batteries, great cameras and attractive prices.

However, our very own Rita El-Khoury regretted the connectivity of its Pixel 6 Pro, saying it has the worst reception and connectivity of any phone she’s used. We wanted to find out if other Pixel 6 series users were experiencing these issues, so we ran a poll in her article. Here are the results of that research.

We posted the poll on July 2nd and it turned out to be a popular one. At the time of writing, more than 8,700 votes have been counted and it appears that 33.17% of readers polled say their Pixel 6 series phones are constantly experiencing connectivity issues. Of course, we suspect that the topic of the article attracted a large number of people who suffered from this problem to begin with. But it’s still a very remarkable result and one that Google should keep in mind for the Pixel 7 reach.

The second most popular choice was “yes, from time to time”, with 30.28% of the vote. Third was ‘not at all’ as 25.26% of respondents said they had no connection problems. Finally, 11.3% of readers surveyed said they experienced connectivity issues, but very rarely.

In other words, nearly three-quarters of respondents said their Pixel 6 series phone was experiencing connectivity issues in some way (regardless of frequency). In addition, ~63% of readers surveyed said they had at least occasional issues with reception and connectivity.

• Eric: I had a terrible connection on my pixel 6 pro and suddenly one day it stopped! Now my connection is much better but for months it was absolutely horrible
• Paul Colella: I occasionally have connectivity issues that force me to do a full reboot. Got better with beta 13.3, but still inconsistent. Bit annoying. And I use Google’s own fi service. Also, sometimes it can’t connect to wifi. Just endless attempts to get an IP address. Again a reboot resolves. Unfortunately. I like this phone otherwise.
• 007700: This is a problem with all pixel phones I’ve had. My signal will still read LTE with bars but no connectivity. The way these phones switch from wifi back to cellular, or from no reception to having no reception, is very imprecise. Maybe the modem is slow or the processor is also slow to record an accurate reading

• Marcus O Byrne: I returned my Pixel 6 after 2 weeks out of frustration with connectivity, it would keep dropping out. Navigation on maps would also never point me in the right direction, no matter how many times I calibrated the compass. I went from perfect connectivity on my OnePlus Nord to absolutely terrible. Returned and got a refurbished Z Flip 3 for the same price and love it!
• rootthe: I’ve been a pixel fan for many years and I appreciate a lot of the features of the pixel 6 pro, but this is the last pixel I plan on owning. The connectivity issues and poor fingerprint performance are too much of an inconvenience, especially if you use Google Pay for public transportation and need it to connect properly.

• turned: I like the phone, but yes. Until this phone, I hadn’t had a conversation in decades.
• Chaldon Pretorius: This was the main reason I got rid of the 6 Pro, great the way it was otherwise. I have kids and being unreachable because the phone wouldn’t have a network signal was untenable for me. The useless auto-brightness was the other reason.
• gyrator: The main reason I sold it and switched to the S22 Ultra. Worst connectivity on any smartphone I’ve ever owned. It’s not noticeable if you’re mainly on WiFi, but when you’re traveling it’s really bad.
• Colm Donnelly: Looks like it’s regional – seamless connectivity on EE in the UK. Fast as hell.
• Chris Cardinal: It’s amazing how bad the reception is on the P6Pro. I’ve had every Pixel and this is the worst per country mile. Literally all the problems you mention are there. I know they dumped Qualcomm for the modem and you can feel it. This phone simply can’t turn off Wi-Fi, struggles and drops calls in the transition from Wi-Fi calling, struggles with the transition from 5G to LTE, and absolutely sucks wind even at the best of times. Even after the C band update and on Verizon it is complete trash.
