Pearlena Igbokwe, Alex Kurtzman honored at AAFCA TV Awards – The Hollywood Reporter

Hollywood director Pearlena Igbokwefilmmaker Alex Kurtzman and Warner Bros. Television Group will be honored with special performance awards at the African American Film Critics Association‘s 4th Annual AAFCA TV Honors.

Igbokwe, the chairman of Universal Studio Group and responsible for Universal Television, Universal Content Productions, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Universal International Studios, receives the Ashley Boone Award from the AAFCA. Named after pioneering studio executive Ashley Boone, the first black president of a major Hollywood studio, the award is presented to an executive who has distinguished himself with excellence within the industry.

Kurtzman, best known for his work on the Star Trek franchise on film and television, receives the AAFCA’s Ally Award. The award is given to an individual or company in recognition of their commitment to diversity/inclusion in their projects.

The AAFCA’s Inclusion Award is presented to Warner Bros. TelevisionGroup. The award recognizes an organization with a demonstrable commitment to inclusion in its programming and business operations. WBTVG chairman Channing Dungey accepts the award on behalf of the studio.

Igbokwe, Kurtzman and WBTVG will be honored at a personal luncheon on August 20 at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles. The AAFCA will announce the winners in 14 televised categories on July 18, celebrating those winners at the same event as the winners of the special achievement.
