DAYS of Our Lives fans are concerned about the future of the show after the recent cast exits.
Viewers are starting to notice a pattern in the number of stars leaving the show and wondering what goes on behind the scenes.
While soap fans are no stranger to the comings and goings of the cast of their favorite shows, DAYS fans worry it’s been a little rougher lately.
For starters, Marci Miller’s legacy character, Abigail Deveraux, was killed off the show, thrusting the show into a whole murder mystery storyline and effectively ending the love story of Abby and Chad DiMera.
Shortly afterwards, fans said goodbye to Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey, and their respective characters, Lani and Eli – otherwise known by their couple name, Elani.
Lani was written off the show with a Maryland jail term after she recently confessed to murdering her biological father, TR.
Lamon’s character left Salem with their children, Jules and Carver, and moved to be closer to where his wife Lani will serve her time behind bars.
Together with the three who have already left in recent weeks, two more will leave on Friday.
Victoria Konefal, who stars as Ciara Brady, leaves the show, as does Robert Scott Wilson, who plays Ben, the other half of her on-screen couple, Cin.
While DAYS writer, lead writer, Ron Carlivati, teased Soap Opera Digest that Robert might return later, Victoria’s time has come to an end.
One nervous fan tweeted about all the cast endings: “As a long-time #DaysofOurLives fan and avid viewer, I am concerned about this show.
“Losing Abigail, Lani, Eli, Ciara & Ben. @carlivatiron it’s time to do some rearranging.
“Yes, we love the actors who played them, but we love the characters! Do not replace these characters with new characters.”
Another wondered: “How will the loss of #Chabby and #Elani affect #Days at the same time?”
A fellow DAYS viewer added of the latest exciting couple: “And #Cin!”
Writer Ron explained why Victoria is leaving the show: “She just wasn’t available on a regular basis.
“And in the way our show works and how you have to schedule people, it just became less feasible to keep her in that status.”
Especially when dealing with writing for a couple, like Ciara and Ben, he said, “You need these people to have a contract.”
