A man has been arrested in connection with eight assaults and harassment in just one day.
The first was reported in the morning and then more were reported in the south London like yesterday.
Police soon linked the reports, all of which took place in the Camberwell and Ruskin Park areas of Southwark.
A metropolitan police A spokesperson said: “A comprehensive policing plan has been implemented, including the deployment of additional uniformed officers and detectives, speaking with victims and witnesses and checking CCTV surveillance.”
A suspect was identified and arrested on suspicion of assault last night.
He remains in custody.
Supt Dan Ivey, Central South Command Unit, said: ‘We are aware of social media reports and fully recognize the deep concern these incidents have caused among the community.
‘We share that concern and are actively investigating with a dedicated team of detectives.
“A man remains in police custody. Women who have not yet reported possible incidents to the police are encouraged to do so.’
