Who was Alexander “AJ” Jennings and what was his cause of death?
Alexander “AJ” Jennings was a 22-year-old resident of New York State who was in Charleston, South Carolina, while filming season three of the Netflix show Outer Banks.
His role on the show was to fill in as a body double for the show’s lead male character, who is played by actor Chase Stokes.
According to the Charleston County Police Department, AJ died after being struck by two different cars while walking along the road on James Island, which is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Charleston.
The accident was reported around 2.30am on July 5, but both cars fled before police arrived.
AJ was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found the driver of the second car that hit AJ during a routine traffic stop in downtown Charleston.
They are still looking for the driver of the first car and no charges have yet been filed for AJ’s death.
The Charleston County Police Department is calling on anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward.

Chase Stokes, who played the character AJ stood for, posted a heartfelt tribute to him on his Instagram stories.
“I’m still trying to process why certain things happen and why the world works the way it does,” he wrote on July 6.
“My heart was shattered. Your life had just begun. We just talked about how excited you were about your tunes, how far you would get with that old 6-string and that you want to keep making art.”
“Always always warming the hearts of others and being so damn selfless.”
“We all love you, you touched our whole lives and made us all better people and for that, thank you AJ,” he wrote. “Fly high angel.”
The show’s creator, Jonas Pete, spoke to the Post and couriersaying, “He was a lively and beloved young man and we are unimaginably saddened by this tragedy.”
“We extend our sincere condolences and love to the entire Jennings family.”
