Alcohol may be advertised at next month’s World Cup

Alcohol will be allowed to be advertised during the World Cup and drinking rules will be relaxed for visiting fans during the tournament in Qatar starting next month

Rules about the consumption of alcohol in the Islamic state be relaxed during the tournament, which starts next month, in which gamblers are allowed to drink in designated areas.

Budweiser and other alcohol brands are allowed to advertise during the World Cup

And with regulations on the advertising of alcoholic beverages in the host country following suit, it should alleviate contractual difficulties with a number of participating countries – including England – that have deals with beer companies.

Budweiser is one of the official partners of the FA and also a sponsor of the World Cup.

Last year’s Arab Cup, held in Qatar, allowed Budweiser’s logo to be displayed during the tournament – and that precedent is expected to continue.

Budweiser has also launched an alcohol-free alternative, which should alleviate some of the concerns about drinking during the tournament.
