Beth Mead scored the only goal in front of a record-breaking crowd in Manchester, marking an early declaration of intent.
The tournament will see 16 teams compete in 31 matches, with the finalist being crowned at Wembley on July 31.
Spain is favorite en route to the tournament, although the Lionesses will cherish their opportunities, especially as hosts. France and reigning champions of the Netherlands are also participating.
