Air New Zealand now offers pies on some flights to Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Air New Zealand passengers flying to Australia and the Pacific Islands now have the option to eat a meat pie mid-flight.
The classic one-hand meal has been added to the lunch offer on the short international routes, for flights departing between 9.35 am and 2.55 pm.
They will be available to those who have purchased a “The Works” ticket, which includes a meal.
The pies are supplied by Hibiscus Coast-based company The Baker’s Son and are sold in supermarkets starting at $5.19 for a 200g pie.

Steak and cheesecakes will be available on outbound flights, while ground beef and cheese will be offered for the return journey to New Zealand.
Vegan offers will also be available from September 1 – vegan butter chicken will be the outgoing offer, and vegan ground beef and cheese for the return journey.
Cakes are served with tomato sauce.
An Air New Zealand spokesperson said the airline had been working on a menu refresh for Tasman and Pacific Island, following the sparked talks. when the snack offer on domestic flights was switched last year†
“We know Kiwis and Aussies love a good pie,” the spokesperson said.
“With many of them traveling in the coming weeks, now is the perfect time to make the switch.”
For the non-pie fans, there are also sandwiches and vegetarian pastas.
