Presidency defends Buhari

The presidency has defended President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to travel out of the country after attacks across the country.

Olasmediatv.com previously reported that Buhari will travel to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, to participate in the International Development Association (IDA) for Africa summit. He will make the trip hours after terrorists attacked Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and freed more than 500 inmates, including Boko Haram insurgents. The trip also comes hours after his front team convoy was attacked by terrorists in Katsina state.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina addressed journalists at the end of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja on Wednesday, July 6, saying that terrorist attacks in the country should not prevent President Muhammadu Buhari from fulfilling international obligations. .

Adesina insisted that canceling the trip is tantamount to giving in to terrorists. He said;

“Yes, the president must go, because there is an international conference for heads of state and presidents. He should be there. You should never give in to terrorists.

“The moment terrorists are going to stop you from doing things, we might as well raise our hands to surrender. The president has to go his own way. It is an international obligation.”
