Leading medical figures who have provided advice to the nation at the height of the pandemic will be recognized with honors at an investiture ceremony.
Professor Siro Jonathan Van Tamthe former deputy chief physician of England, gained public affection during the pandemic for delivering health messages with a dose of humor and colorful analogies.
He would be called a knight by the Duke of Cambridge during an inauguration ceremony in Windsor Castle in May but couldn’t attend due to contracting Covid-19.
William will now award the honor at a ceremony to be held in Buckingham Palace†
Professor Van-Tam joined the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on secondment from the University of Nottingham in 2017 and has returned as pro-vice chancellor for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
At the ceremony, Dr Jenny Harries, chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), will be appointed Dame Commander for her service to public health.
Like Prof. Van-Tam, she joined politicians at the nationally televised briefings for the country during the Covid-19 pandemic in her then role as deputy medical director.
Professor Kevin Fenton, Regional Director, Officer for Health Improvement and Inequalities at the DHSC and Regional Director, Public Health, NHS London will become a CBE for public health services.
Jordan Henderson, Liverpool Football Club captain and an England player, will be awarded an MBE for his services to his sport and charity, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Henderson has won the FA and League Cup with Liverpool this season, won over 60 caps and in April 2020 was an architect of the Players Together initiative which encouraged professional footballers to donate to the NHS.
