An iconic London landmark has hit the market for £45,000, but there’s a catch.
Potential buyers who have always wanted to own a historic part of the capital can now make their dreams come true.
Buyers should be aware that their money will not earn them a large property, but a small, albeit iconic red telephone box.
The red kiosk in chic Kensington, West London, is just 3 meters deep and wide and just over 2 meters high.
However, it does have electricity and is classified as a Grade I listed building.
This status means that the buyer can resell the kiosk at any time, but cannot remove or change the exterior.
And the K6 box—which dates back to the 1930s—could be converted into a shop and business by potential owners.
Real estate company BidX1 put the phone booth up for sale and the stand could also be used as advertising space by potential buyers.
The phone booth is located on Church Street and can be found next to restaurants in the upscale neighborhood.
It is also very close to Kensington Palace, the home of Prince William and Kate, and just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace.
But the £45k asking price is more than a two-bedroom house in Britain’s most affordable city to live in.
But for less than the target price you could buy a terraced family home in Shildon, Co Durham.
There are two bedroom houses for as little as £30,000 and several currently on the market for between £40,000 and £45,000.
Meanwhile, buyers are wary after the path of a Jamiroquai star marketed for around £500,000.
And recently one spacious three bedroom house was put up for sale for just £195,000, though the kitchen may surprise you.
