Jet2 blames ‘terribly ill-prepared’ airports for holiday chaos

Mr Meeson said: “Most of our 10 UK base airports are woefully ill-prepared and ill-equipped for the volume of customers they could reasonably expect, as are other suppliers.

He said this is “unforgivable as our flights have been on sale for many months and our load factor is quite normal”.

He added: “The often appalling customer service from their and the ground handling suppliers, long queues for security screenings, lack of staff and congestion in baggage handling areas, and the resulting airport crowds, along with the frequent lack of onboard catering supplies, have each contributed to a much worse beginning and end of vacation experience for our customers than they expected.”

British Airways has canceled another 10,300 flights during the summer months in one fell swoop for about a million holidaymakers.

The airline has canceled short-haul flights scheduled from early August to late October, likely to affect many popular destinations in France, Spain and Greece.

The latest cuts come on top of the 16,000 canceled flights BA announced in May, meaning about 17 percent of its planned summer schedule has been scrapped.
