Carrie Johnson Wears Resignation Red Dress For Boris’ Farewell Speech

Carrie kept it simple in a red dress

As Boris Johnson addressed the nation and announced his resignation as prime minister, his wife, Carrie Johnson, standing next to it, baby Romy in tow

What do you wear when your husband quits his job after receiving a record number of layoffs from the cabinet?

A beautiful red dress with a tiny polka dot print, of course.

You could read enough into the color choice (defiant? Powerful? … An unexpected statement of support for the Labor party?), but it’s worth noting that this isn’t quite a departure for Carrie – she also wore a red dress to a performance at the Conservative Party conference in 2021 and for the Queen’s Thanksgiving service in June this year.

The choice of a simple, summery style of clothing rather than a full power suit or something special fits the message that Carrie at 10 Downing Street was purely as Boris’ partner, supporting rather than any political ambition.

No word yet on where Carrie’s particular red dress comes from, but we’ll update this article as soon as we know. Maybe we’ll see it sell out as people scramble for their own sack red outfit.

She stood next to Nadine Dorries

Accessory-wise, a ring on her finger and a hip papoose on her front.

Notice the red flash on Romy’s socks – that’s color coordination now.
