TL;DR
- A promo video apparently showed the Asus Zenfone 9 ahead of its unveiling.
- It looks like the phone will be a compact device with flagship internals and an upgraded camera system.
We have some alleged Asus Zenfone 9 leaks in recent months, but credible details were scarce. Now, an Asus Zenfone 9 promo video has leaked online, apparently revealing the design and most notable specs of the device.
A promo video of the device was shared on the Asus Zenfone Forum Facebook Page, but it has since been removed. Thankfully, the video has been reposted to YouTube, while screenshots of the video have also been posted to SlashLeaks† Watch the video below.
The images and video show a compact phone with a 5.9-inch screen, seemingly in line with the Zenfone 8form factor. Other obvious design choices include a vertically stacked rear camera system (with lenses that appear large in relation to the device itself), flat bezels, a 3.5mm port on the top and an IP68 rating.
Other alleged Zenfone 9 details gleaned from the video include the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, a 4,300 mAh battery, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, dual stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. In fact, Asus apparently allows you to slide the power button/fingerprint scanner to flip through pages.

The phone might also be a must for fans of photography and videography as it is said to be equipped with a 50MP IMX766 primary camera and six-axis gimbal stabilization. There’s no word on the secondary rear camera, but we suspect it’s an ultra-wide-angle lens. Anyway, the presence of a more effective stabilization could make this device ideal for video recording.
We haven’t heard any solid rumors about pricing and availability yet, but we’re hoping the Zenfone 9 has the same competitive $629 price tag as the previous phone. It would also be great if the company would launch this phone in a timely manner as the older device didn’t reach India until February 2022.
