When does it start, how many tests are there and how to watch

Eddie Jones maintains England are ready to hunt down the Wallabies as they prepare for confrontation on and off the field during their three-Test tour of Australia.

Jones has named a group of 36 that includes recalls for Billy Vunipola and scrumhalf Danny Care, but considers Joe Marler, Ben Youngs and Elliot Daly to be big omissions.

England’s last visit to Australia in 2016 ended with an astonishing whitewash series, but Jones and his tourists were forced to overcome a coordinated campaign of disruption from the field, including the head coach conducting a lengthy search for his luggage faced at Brisbane Airport.

As a foretaste of what’s to come, the host broadcaster produced a trailer for the series in which unpleasant and sunburned red rose fans drink tea and eat cakes before being interrupted by Wallabies prop Taniela Tupou.

“We have to go after them. We have a whole intention of going after them,” said Jones, who has won all eight meetings with Australia as England coach. “Davie Rennie’s teams traditionally want to play on the forefoot, so it’s about who wins the forefoot.

“There will be a lot of hard, flat tracks and insulting crowds. They are in the face, the Australians. The media is going to be in our face – they are aggressive.

“It’s a very aggressive environment. You can learn so much about your players and your team on those tours and we missed it.

“I’m sure it’s going to be fun. For Australians it’s the biggest tour and it’s going to be big. It’s going to be fantastic for rugby and it’s going to be fantastic for our team.”
