Residents of the town of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were probably a little nervous to see a massive storm turn the world around them green.

Images shared online show rolling clouds and a deep green hue giving us strong Ozark style vibes

According to scientists, the strange phenomenon occurs when clouds carry a lot of water.

This makes it possible mostly blue light to get through the storm cloud for us looking at it from below.

The blue light mixes with the red light from the sun and the sky turns green.

And it makes for quite dramatic photos when it’s set right above your head.

Amazingly, this isn’t the only cloud-based news story of the week.

A few days ago, people in the US, Canada and Europe started to see incredible glow-in-the-dark clouds briefly appear in the night sky.
