Share an article in The mail on Sunday about Prince Harry‘s legal claim against the British Home Office was defamatory, a London Supreme Court judge has ruled.

The Duke of Sussex had filed a claim against the newspaper’s publisher, Associated Newspapers Limited, in February after an article which his team claimed had “caused serious damage to his reputation and significant pain, embarrassment and suffering which continues”. A judge ruled Friday that parts of the article were indeed defamatory.

According to ITV, the judge said: “It may be possible to ‘distort’ facts in a way that is not misleading, but the allegation in the article was very much that the aim was to mislead the public.” The judge concluded: “That provides the necessary element to make the meanings defamatory in common law.”

In his case against the government, Prince Harry wants a judicial review to force the government to officially secure him and his family, including his two children with wife. Meghan Marklea† The couple have indicated that they would pay for the security, but want it to be provided through the Ministry of the Interior. His lawyers claim that he and his family “will not be able to return to his homeland” because it is too dangerous.

Markle previously successfully sued Associated Newspapers for publishing her handwritten letter to her father Thomas Markle over the breakup of their relationship around the time of the royal wedding. For that, she was awarded a nominal £1 in damages, while also receiving an undisclosed amount which she donated to charity.
