WWE legend Paige has officially left the company 11 years after signing her first deal.

The former Divas champion and all-around British wrestling legend – now under her real name Saraya – had confirmed that her WWE contract expired on Thursday (July 7) and now she looks back on her memorable career thus far.

As the day drew to a close, she tweeted, “I wasn’t supposed to be on social media today, just popping in to say thank you to everyone. I had a really great trip with @WWE and I’m excited to see my journey continue outside. Helluva run.

‘Thanks for all the messages. I really feel loved #Saraya’

Paige has written an emotional letter to fans and WWE ahead of the Player’s standand she took the opportunity to open up on a difficult period in her life in 2017

She wrote: ‘It was like, almost overnight, so many things changed: Suddenly my neck was broken and I couldn’t wrestle anymore. I took a drug test. My sex tape has been leaked. I got depressed. I started drinking. And for a long time I became less of an asset to WWE and more of an obligation. I’m sure of it.

“But they’ve never lost faith in me – they’ve never sidelined me. They gave me the help I needed when I needed help, and they gave me the time and space I needed when I needed time and space.”

The 29-year-old star pointed to her retirement in the ring after returning later in 2017 before suffering a devastating neck injury in December and taking time off from her wrestling career a few months later.

She added: “They even gave me a full segment on Raw to announce my in-ring retirement. I will cherish that for the rest of my life.

“Not just to make the announcement like I did, but the respect it showed on the part of WWE that they thought I was worthy of such treatment — the kind normally reserved for an Edge, or a Daniel Bryan, or an HBK, or a hunter.

“That they saw me as someone who had built her own legacy.”

In a lengthy statement last month, Paige confirmed her WWE exit, but also promised to return to the ring, despite not yet being cleared for action.

She wrote at the time, “I think the hardest thing, oddly enough, is letting go of the name Paige! But Saraya is a great name. Kudos to my mom for that.

“FYI, I’m not saying I’ll never be in the ring. That day will surely come again! Wherever the return may be.’
