Last M25 traffic: Police rush to gas leak as man sustains life-threatening injuries | UK | News

The Metropolitan Police said they were called to the intersection of the A127 with Front Lane, Upminster at 6:10 p.m. after a “road traffic collision” in which a car had left the road and hit a gas pipe. Officers rushed to the scene along with the London Ambulance Service, the London Fire Brigade and the London Air Ambulance. The driver of the car is currently being treated at the scene but has suffered “life-threatening” injuries.

There are “several” road closures following the collision, including Junction 29 of the M25.

Local residents have been evacuated from their homes as a “precautionary measure” and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to the A127 junction with Front Lane, Upminster at 6:10pm on Sunday 26 June following a road accident.

A car went off the road and collided with a gas pipe.

Officers attended with LAS, LFB and the London Air Ambulance.

“The driver of the car is being treated at the scene, his condition is life-threatening.

“Due to significant damage to the gas pipeline, multiple road closures affect the A127/Front Lane, Upminster and M25 Junction 29 following a suspected gas leak.

Residential addresses have been evacuated as a precaution.
