A WOMAN who made a secret purchase on Gumtree late at night has shared how her investment made her a millionaire.
Tess Nguyen, 26, spontaneously quit a business on the site during her evening role – which is now seven figures.

The certified physiotherapist, van Sydney, Australiadidn’t let her lack of business knowledge stop her from buying.
She explained that she was looking for a physical therapy clinic when she saw an intriguing proposal.
Tess saw an ad for the sale of a company called Midnight Mischief, a personalized sleepwear brand that desperately needs a revival.
She said 7Life: “I had never heard of personalized pyjamas and I was quite aware of trends, so I sent an inquiry.”
The 26-year-old decided to dig deeper into the numbers and called on her business friends to gauge her potential. incidental.
Tess continued: “They looked at the financial data the then owner sent me and they told me it was worth nothing.
“They advised me not to buy it. But I liked the design of the pajamas and the name, and I got back the owner up to $15,000.
“A month later, I bought the company.”
But even though she had relied on her friends for support in buying the stagnant pajama brand, Tess had kept her extravagant purchase a secret from her family.
She explained that people had little faith that she would succeed and warned her about the weight of starting a business.
However, the determined Aussie decided to seize the opportunity to learn everything she needed to know – albeit already at work.
Tess added: “The company only came out with six sets of pyjamas, so for the first few months I saved up like crazy to buy 100 more,
“Then I listened to some podcasts about marketing and started a very steep learning curve.”
The businesswoman said she trusted her intuition to help her make tough decisions on a tight budget.
While her nightwear was glamorous, not every aspect of her new career was equally appealing — especially since she still had her full-time job.

“I was working 24/7 and had no social life,” Tess said. “I got dermatitis and had all the signs of burnout, but I didn’t recognize it at the time.”
But her big break came when celebrity stylist and author Jules Sebastian shared a photo of herself wearing Midnight Mischief.
She received an influx of orders, forcing her to clean up her parents so she could tie them up to help her.
Tess joked, “I was known as the pajama girl at the post office. I sent hundreds of pairs out.”
She shared how her business grew 165 percent in just 12 months — selling a PJ set every 10 minutes.
Her late-night Gumtree purchase now brings in a staggering £1.3 million.
Tess now plans to expand her product lines and get her pajamas into stores to help grow Midnight Mischief.
And she doesn’t regret her spontaneous decision, saying, “I’m so glad I did it and I would tell everyone to do the same.
