Antonio Contea called his starting eleven on Sunday with a defensive three from Davinson Sanchez, Clement Lenglet and Eric Dier – with Romero and Hojbjerg completely missing from the squad.
Conte says the pair will be assessed “day by day” ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League game against Sporting.
Both issues are reportedly “minor” with Spurs fans no doubt eagerly awaiting an update from coach Conte on their fitness ahead of a busy lead up to the World Cup.
Conte went for a 3-5-2 line-up against Newcastle with Oliver Skipp alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma as Hojbjerg was ruled out. Ivan Perisic fell on the bench at the other substitution.
The Spurs host Sporting on Wednesday for a Premier League trip to Bournemouth next weekend.
Their Champions League group stage ends on November 1 in Marseille, with a visit to Liverpool five days later.
