So…what is our game really about? Basically, World of Mechs is the only Meta Quest 2 title that allows players to jump into massive 10-ton war machines with flaming weapons and blasted fighter jets. Pilots can team up with three friends and take on enemies in online multiplayer matches across five unique maps. In the heat of battle, they can take advantage of elevated landscapes for the perfect ambush and use obstacles and structures as defensive rallying points. Strategically tear apart the war zone or rage as you and your mechs see fit!
World of Mechs’ four online modes are based on well-known multiplayer classics. Score the most kills in Team Deathmatch, capture and hold targets to earn points in Domination, launch attacks on enemy positions in Assault, and take out a rival mech unit while protecting your marked teammate in VIP. Proudly prove your supremacy as you become the big dog of the arena – don’t forget us little guys.
If multiplayer isn’t your thing, World of Mechs also includes a single-player campaign where players can duel and defeat formidable bosses, then use their machines to become a rock-solid legend.
As the name suggests, World of Mechs is all about driving beautiful steel behemoths. The medic mechs are my personal favorites. Whenever I get the chance to lend a helping hand, I take it. I’m not too shabby!
When the battle is won, players can use the loot of victory to upgrade their mech’s speed, armor and – of course – tough weapons. They can also activate special mech class abilities to block radar sensors, deploy landmine traps, and enable stealth cloaking to sneak behind targets.
There are 32 mechs in 8 different classes to choose from. Zoom past enemies as a scout scout, lay down suppressing fire as a support trooper, or bring the hammer with the Brawler’s short-range firepower. Become one with your mech and reach chaotic nirvana while safely launching from barrage missiles at the opposition.
If you’re not that familiar with VR, the game includes a tutorial to help you on your way to becoming a superstar pilot. It also has a range of built-in VR comfort options for Meta Quest 2 players who easily suffer from motion sickness. Toggle Cockpit Sway, Side Shutters and Headset Aim for an immersive and comfortable demolition derby experience.
