Kendrick Lamar’s debut performance at Glastonbury was delivered in an exciting style as the rapper ended the festival with a custom thorn crown, covered with 8,000 diamonds.
The American rapper (35), who consistently leaned heavily on theater with a group of supportive dancers, brought performance art to Worthy Farm with his lightning fast set.
Without the usual special guests, Kendrick swept through his songs until near the end without too much thought.
In a show that was greeted throughout with cheers from the crowd, perhaps the biggest reaction of all came to its climax when the headline apparently condemned the U.S. Supreme Court’s overthrow of Roe v Wade with his last words.

At the end of his 90-minute set, and with blood pouring down his face, Kendrick declared, ‘They judge me; they judge Christ. God’s Speed for Women’s Rights’, the phrase repeats several times in a powerful moment before it is suddenly cut short and leaves the stage.
The Grammy winner joins several stars who staged the issue during their sets at Glastonbury, including singer Lorde right in front of him, who declared ‘f ** k the Supreme Court’ when she sang the lyrics of Secrets From a Girl (Who’s Seen It All) has changed. to include a short monologue.
Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridgers also beat the verdict during their sets, while Olivia Rodrigo brought Lily Allen on stage as a surprise guest for a duet of her 2009 song F *** You, which hit the Good 4 U hit list assigned to the U.S. Supreme Court justices who voted through the change in America’s constitutional law.
The BBC later confused fans by announcing Lily’s appearance in Olivia’s set during their iPlayer highlight coverage, with the broadcaster saying it was done “solely because of the strong language used throughout”.
Kendrick opened his set with United In Grief before moving on to hits such as Money Trees, Backseat Freestyle, B **** Don’t Kill My Vibe, mAAd city and King Kunta.
With its Glastonbury debut featuring its Pyramid Stage performance on Sunday night, the main line was initially announced for 2020 as part of the festival’s 50th anniversary, ahead of two years of delays due to the pandemic.
