Supervan returns! Ford’s Craziest Concept Reborn as a 2000 HP EV

Ford has a long history of building crazy, insanely powerful “concept cars” that are little more than top-shelf race cars tucked under one of their current van bodies. In the 1960s, the Supervan was a COE dragster. In the 1980s, it was a wild, hairy Group B rally weapon. Then it turned into an active Formula 1 with ground effect car They go for 1994… and now it’s back. This time it packs an almost unimaginable two thousand horsepower. And of course! – it’s 100% electric!

Like its impossibly fast ancestors, Ford’s latest super-fast van concept lives up to the promise of its name. In this case, it packs four of Ford’s best electric motors—one on each wheel, natch—which is enough to go fast, goodness for Ford to guarantee this boxy bad*ss can get you, your kids and your dog to 60 mph in just a tick under 2.0 seconds (on racing slicks, of course).

You want to make sure you tie the dog up, dear reader, because you may love Fluffy and Fluffy may or may not love you – but Fluffy absolutely will. not love being pressed against the tailgate like a cranked up 10-year-old riding the gravity

We’ll have to wait and see if the latest Supervan really lives up to the hype. The good news, however, is that we won’t have to wait long! That’s because Romain Dumas will be driving the thing up the historic hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. And if that name sounds familiar, it’s because Dumas is the mentalist who set the EV and overall speed records at Pike’s Peak and Germany’s famous Nürburgring in the all-electric Volkswagen ID.R.

How does he continue in the van? I suspect he’ll be fine there – but I am. what do you think? Is Ford’s latest Supervan just a publicity stunt meant to cash in on some van-freak car nostalgia, or is this big, stony powerhouse going to do the thing and set some records? Scroll down to the comments and let us know!
