A FORMER Premier League footballer has been arrested for drunk driving after plowing his car through the front of a shop, it was reported.
Photos of the scene show the front of the Land Rover stuck in the front of the shop in County Durham.
The 37-year-old has been released on bail by Cleveland police pending further investigation, the Daily Mail reports.
The store sustained significant damage and the residents of the apartment above had to be evacuated.
The store remained closed all weekend and the fire service was called after the accident at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
It comes after a separate incident earlier this year when Burnley midfielder Dale Stephens was banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel almost twice the legal limit.

The 32-year-old was arrested in his £40k Range Rover Sport after eating out and having ‘a few beers’.
The £15,000-a-week player was stopped by police in Cheshire’s poshest village during a routine check as police investigated a series of luxury car thefts.
The officers would have let Stephens go first, but then noticed a smell of alcohol.
A roadside breath test showed the Premier League star was nearly twice the drink-driving limit, Stockport Magistrates heard.
