TL;DR
- OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and many others have confirmed their upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones.
- The Xiaomi 13 and OnePlus 11 could be the first to launch with the chips.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has only been out for a few days, and while Qualcomm has confirmed a list of brands that will use the new flagship chip, OEMs are in a race to launch the first devices with it. To that end, both OnePlus and Xiaomi claim that they will be the first to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone.
The Xiaomi 13 series is expected to launch sometime next month. The company posted a message on the Chinese social media platform Weibo a few days ago he said that the 13 series will be the first to be equipped with the second generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform.
Meanwhile, OnePlus has that too confirmed that the OnePlus 11 will house the new silicon. Interestingly, the Oppo-led company claims its flagship will be the one to debut the chip, not Xiaomi’s.
Xiaomi and OnePlus are not the only phone makers to have confirmed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones.
While it hardly matters who arrives first, confirmations from all of these companies suggest we could see at least a few flagships of the next generation before the year ends.
If Xiaomi 13 or OnePlus 11 launch in December, their availability will be limited to China. You can’t expect the phones to hit the market worldwide until early next year.
Of course, we already know that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will also land with the latest Qualcomm chip. Samsung has not released any confirmation, but Qualcomm has previously said that the upcoming Samsung phones in 2023 will exclusively use the flagship SoC.
