I’m a celebrity 2022: Mike Tindall ‘bored’ of Matt Hancock’s focus

Mike Tindall may make history as the first member of the royal family to sign up for I’m A Celebrity…Get me out of here!, but a friend of the former rugby star says he seems “bored” when Matt Hancock gets all the attention.

While Casting Mike was a coup for the series, the disgraced incumbent MP has been in the spotlight ever since he entered the camp as a latercomer alongside Old Waltz.

The campmates initially clashed over Hancock’s presence and the public was just as outraged and continued to attack him to do the Bushtucker trials.

Now a friend of Mike’s has said he believes the star ‘struggled’ because he was part of what he called ‘The Matt Hancock Show’

TV presenter Alex Payne, who co-hosts The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast with Mike and former I’m A Celebrity star James Haskell, has said he can see from the series that Mike has become ‘bored’.

“It was very strange for us to see him in there [the jungle] know him as well as we do, and just see the moves,” he said.

“I think he’s struggling a bit with it this week and he’s getting pretty bored of it all because it’s become the Matt Hancock Show.”

Alex added, “What I do like is that the pale, masculine, musty brigade – middle-aged dudes – actually hold the ending well.”

While Mike is making headlines for his hilarious (and frankly impressive) rapping skills, and handing out some gossip about his famous family, Matt has gotten a lot of attention for just being there.

Upon landing in Australia on Tuesday, Hancock’s girlfriend Gina Coladangelo insisted it was ‘hard not to be impressed’ because of what he’s done on the show so far, no matter how many thousands disagree.

On the same day, regulator Ofcom was revealed to have been hit nearly 2,000 complaints about Hancock is in the jungle.

However, Alex said if he was willing to tackle one more tune, maybe Mike would get some love from the audience and have a little more excitement if he got voted into some Bushtucker Trials.

“He fired off both raps, he did [nail it]but he did both on the first show,’ said Alex.

“Those are pretty much his party pieces. So maybe he should rap again in week two to revive the mood.”

I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
