Apple TV+ Renews Maya Rudolph’s ‘Loot’ for Season 2 – The Hollywood Reporter

Apple TV+ is out to collect some more loot

The streaming service of the tech giant has been renewed lootstarring and executive produced by Maya Rudolph, for a second season. The pick-up comes midway through the 10-episode first season of the comedy, and two weeks after Apple released a first look deal with Animal Picturesthe production company headed by Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens.

loot was created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. Rudolph plays Molly Novak, a billionaire whose seemingly perfect life falls apart when her husband, who has betrayed her for 20 years, and her public spiral become tabloid fodder. After learning she has a charitable foundation, Molly and her no-nonsense head Sofia (Michaela Jae Rodriguez) hatch a plan to give away much of her fortune.

The show’s cast also includes Joel Kim Booster, Nat Faxon, and Ron Funches.

“Thanks to Maya, Alan, Matt and all the amazingly talented loot cast and creative team who created a show full of captivating and engaging characters and hilarious and heartwarming moments in every episode,” Apple TV+ chief programming officer Matt Cherniss said in a statement. “This show has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide and we cannot waiting for season two.”

The series has received mostly favorable reviews from critics, with The Hollywood Reporters Daniel Fienberg praised the easy rapport the cast has, while also noting that there are “extensive” room for the series to grow. Detailed viewing data for: loot is not yet available.

Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, who previously worked with Rudolph on Amazon’s Forevercreated loot† (Yang is also an executive producer of Apple’s Little America.) They co-produce with Rudolph, Lyonne and Behrens for Animal Pictures and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment. Universal Television produces.
