Crews were called out at around 11pm on Monday 11 July due to reports of a fire on Bank Lane, in Greenfield, Oldham. About 50 firefighters worked overnight to fight the fire at Dovestone Reservoir.
Ten fire engines from stations in Greater Manchester were on the scene.
Footage of the scene shows firefighters dealing with the bright orange eruption, with the fire a short distance from Dovestone Reservoir.
More photos showed a striking image of fire engines waving blue lights as they arrived in the area, with the orange hues of the conflagration creating an apocalyptic scene.
