Bruno Fernandes says Erik ten Hag pushed the Manchester United team hard in ‘intense’ training, but he and his teammates are enjoying the new challenge.
Ten Hag is working hard to transfer his ideas to his new team and is trying to completely rebuild the team from the mess it was in last season.
Tyrell Malacia is the only newcomer so far, although there will be more new additions to come, so the Dutchman is largely working with what was left of Ralph Rangnick at Old Trafford.
While the former Ajax boss is trying to get his tactical approach in his new players, he is also trying his best to get them as fit as possible for the upcoming campaign.
Fernandes admits it’s hard work, but United’s players are doing well.
“It’s been pretty intense,” the Portuguese told the Manchester United official website† ‘He likes intensive training, reactions when you lose the ball. He likes that everyone is running.
“He’s been really good. Everyone enjoys [it], clear. Everyone gets really tired at the end of the workout, but that’s what we have to do.
“That’s how we should be at the end of the training, but then you know that the training was really good.
“Like I said, we have to do the hard work because if we do it now, we will be fit for the start of the season.
“We all know that the first games of the season are strange, but we want to be the ones who are going to win.
“We have to do the maximum we can and what the coach and all the staff ask of us.”
Ten Hag will field a United team for the first time on Tuesday afternoon when the Red Devils face Liverpool in a friendly match in Bangkok, kicking off at 2 p.m.
