1013 new Covid cases, 4 dead in Canterbury

There are 1013 new community cases and four Covid-19 deaths to report in Canterbury.


In a statement released today, the Department of Health said there were 5,549 new community cases nationwide and 383 pending hospitalizations.

The seven-day moving average of the number of community cases is 5132 today – last Monday it was 4939.

The number of publicly reported deaths from Covid now stands at 1,472 and the seven-day rolling average of reported deaths is 13.

The latest deaths included two people from the Auckland area, one from Waikato, one from MidCentral, two from Taranaki, one from the Hutt Valley, three from Canterbury and one from South Canterbury.

Two people were in their 60s, two in their 70s, three in their 80s and four in their 90s. Of these people, five were male and six were female.
