The Unmention tool, which gives users more control over who can tag them on the network, has finally been enabled on Twitter. Through its official Twitter account, the company has announced the installation of the new feature. Users can now remove their tags and end an ongoing conversation on the platform. Here you will find all the information you need about this feature and how it works.
Twitter Unmention Feature
The new option is useful because there are instances where users don’t want to participate in certain conversations, and it’s off-putting when they get pointless notifications when a tweet they’re tagged in has a lot of comments. The platform has confirmed that all users will receive the feature.
Each tweet in which you were mentioned can be easily removed. Users just need to tap the three-dot menu visible in the top right corner of any tweet. Here you have the choice to “Leave this conversation”. To remove yourself from a tweet, all you have to do is touch it. Remember, Twitter doesn’t hide your name from that tweet; it will still be available to view. Simply put, you will no longer receive notifications for that particular tweet and no one can visit your profile by clicking on a Tweet that contains your name. Simply put, tweets containing your username will no longer be tagged.
You won’t get notifications for that tweet after you leave a particular conversation, but you can manually open the tweet to read the responses. In addition, if you choose the Leave Chat feature, no one will be able to start the conversation again.
All devices can now access the feature. If you haven’t received it yet, you should in the next few days. According to Twitterthe most recent change allows users to unfollow themselves if they don’t want unnecessary attention.
In addition, the microblogging platform is apparently developing a new “Security Mode” that will help prevent trolls from appearing in your listings. According to a CNET story, security mode would allow you to block trolls while the feature is actively looking for it. The feature is currently in beta testing and not all regions can access it.
