Today’s match predictions

From Jason Burt in Doha

Costa Rica 0 Germany 3: Germany must win and will certainly win. Even then they have to hope that Japan does not beat Spain. It is unlikely that Costa Rica will also be able to pass, so there is a lot coming up for this game. Germany has actually been better than their results suggest. Expect a comfortable win.

Japan 1 Spain 2: Japan’s loss to Costa Rica was a shock as Spain appeared to be in complete control of the group. But Japan is fighting for their lives, which makes it hard to predict despite Spain’s superiority, although that should see them through.

Canada 1 Morocco 3: Morocco need only a draw and have yet to concede a goal (now six consecutive games in total) and will be favorites after their 2-0 win over Belgium. Canada has been entertaining, without getting a point, and will try.

Croatia 2 Belgium 1: All logic suggests this will be a Croatia win. Belgium seems too old and is tearing itself apart. Sometimes it doesn’t always follow that we get the expected result, but Croatia is driven and determined to win the group.
