When you travel, nothing beats a room with a view.
If you can gaze at something truly spectacular after a long day of vacation, the hotel can really go from being a decent place to sleep to a highlight in its own right.
We all have a different checklist of what we look for in hotels: privacy, a convenient location, price, a comfortable bed, and how many luxury freebies you get are all at the top. If a beautiful view from the window trumps all this, there’s a good reason for it.
It is well known that immersing ourselves in nature reduces stress, boosts energy and creativity – and even looking at it, it can have those positive effects.
Research has also shown that lakes, mountains and villages can give you a feeling Healthierbut even cityscapes can evoke feelings of “pride or awe that we as humans can create such enormous structures,” according to the University of Vienna. Michael Forster†
Sold? Well, the next step is choosing where you want to go. Don’t worry, the folks at HawaiianIslands.com have arranged the very best hotel views for you.
To compile the list, they analyzed thousands of TripAdvisor reviews from around the world to find the hotels most known for their “beautiful views.”
Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Coming first is the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf and Spa Townin Cabo San Lucas, Mexico†
This family-friendly all-inclusive luxury resort won’t be for everyone, but it’s located on a private beach with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, so you might be able to overlook the entire golf resort.
One reviewer claimed they were “able to watch whales play off the coast near the resort, while “the flowers and trees are beautiful, especially the hibiscus!”
It also has a fairly highly regarded spa.
Wynn Las Vegas
Second place is given to the Wynn Las Vegas†
This five-star North American resort couldn’t be more different from its idyllic private beach atmosphere, as you’ll be struck by the bright lights of the Vegas Strip on which it sits.
It doubles as a casino (obviously) and treats guests to fine dining and a spa.
There is also more greenery outside the hotel than you might have expected.
Fairmont Chateau, Lake Louise Canada
Prefer somewhere in nature? Go to the Fairmont Chateau in Lake Louise† Canada† Nothing says “UNESCO World Heritage” quite like the emerald green waters of Lake Louise and the towering Rocky Mountains that surround it.
Seriously, this hotel is right in the middle of Alberta’s Banff National Park, and it’s amazing.
Sandals Regency La Toc, Saint Lucia
Want to relax in a tropical paradise with your SO? Next up is the Sandals Regency La Toc in Saint Lucia.
This chic adults-only resort, if screaming kids aren’t your thing. This 220-acre estate occupies half a mile of a crescent-shaped beach.
However, according to reviews, only a few rooms have a view.
Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Two hotels in Asia make this list. The first is Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
If you want to enjoy the view here, you’ll pay for it: Rooms cost anywhere from $350 to several thousand dollars.
This hotel is notorious for transforming Singapore’s skyline with three 55-storey skyscrapers.
As if that weren’t enough, it features the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool, no fewer than 20 dining options and an entire casino.
For that price, you would spend a lot of time enjoying the impressive view of the city from the pool.
Bungalows and villas in Tulemar in Costa Rica
More of a jungle lover? Tulemar Bungalows & Villas in Costa Rica may be right for you.
The 33-acre gated jungle resort sits on the hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Book one of the octagonal bungalows for a panoramic view of the coast.
Amari Phuket, Thailand
Next on the list is Amari Phuket in Thailand, which (we feel a theme here) is a private beach resort.
Located on a hill, it offers commanding views of Patong Beach and the shimmering sea beyond, which you can snorkel in when your boat floats.
Rome Cavalieri, Italy
Three hotels from Europe make the list, and they make up the last three. The first is the Rome Cavalieri in Italy, with views that have been described as ‘breathtaking’.
You’ll find it on the highest hilltop in Rome, right next to the Vatican City. Very urban living.
The rooms offer panoramic views of the Eternal City and St. Peter’s Dome, while the hotel itself is built in a lush 15-hectare Mediterranean park.
Hotel Croatia Cavtat
This beautiful five star resort rises from the coastal pine forest off the crystal clear Adriatic coast.
On the one hand, the waterfront hotel offers a beautiful view of Cavtat Bay, on the other, you can enjoy the sparkling lights of medieval Dubrovnik across the water.
Hilton Budapest, Hungary
Finishing off the top ten is the Hilton Budapest. Located on a hill in the castle district, this luxury hotel was once a 13th-century church.
It still has its beautiful Baroque facade and overlooks the Danube River.
Visitors also get great views of the Fisherman’s Bastion and the spiers of Matthias Church.
